Today is a special day! It’s Jane Goodall’s birthday.
As Jane turns 78 years young, she is spending her birthday in one of her favorite places on Earth…other than Gombe National Park that is! She’s watching the annual migration of the sandhill cranes in Nebraska’s Plate River Valley. Of course, Jane is never one to take a day off like the rest of us and so she is also busily finalizing her latest book while in the middle of her spring 2012 North American speaking tour.
Like you, we at the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) are inspired by our founder each and every day. As Jane says: “Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.” We live and breath that motto every day at JGI.

“Sometimes people feel helpless, because if you care about the environment and the future, there are so many problems, and they just do seem overwhelming. Therefore, people sometimes think, ‘Well, there’s no point in doing anything,’ and that’s the very worst, this apathy,” she told The Huffington Post.
